It's everything and nothing at the same time. The goal is to take inspiration from Staff Colleges and organized military wargaming in an attempt to create highly complex, intricate, and intervowen scenarios that challenge many kinds of players, leaders, and organizers. You can play one aspect, or as many as you'd like. The goal is not to create a 1:1 parity of absolutely fair rules, but rather a wargame that feels like it could be a real scenario. Not everything will be fair, but neither will every mechanic be perfectly refined. Some aspects will have to be Game Master litigated, but we will always try to create a wargame where proper choices yield good results. Players have the ability to introduce mechanics, and ask clarification or even get something changed.
One game affects another. Army Commanders on the hex map will call for air support, and a realtime week later, human pilot in flight simulators will fly into battle to assist those ground troops. If they are succesful, effects and damage will be litigated onto the game board! Vice versa, if the commanders on hex board game fail to protect the airbase and it gets overrun, those DCS players will have to relocate.
Ultimately, we are here to have fun, and to experience something truly unique together.
We welcome players of all skill levels! All we ask is that you follow our community rules.
There's a role for anyone, regardless of skill level or amount of time you want to dedicate to the ongoing wargame. You should still always put in your best good faith effort!
But no one will yell at you for your lights being off during taxi, or if you are not deeply aware of the intricasies of AirLand Battle. Willigness to learn and a good attitude will always take you far and ensure that you will get many friends here.
You can expect that there are no external tools to help you, like external views or arbitrary maps, so you will soon become an expert on TACANs, terrain association, and various other Cold War navigation methods.
You should know the basics of your plane, or any plane you wish to fly. Using the weapons to a beginner level, and the ability to navigate in a more primitive environment are the baseline. It is not a hard limit, and there will be opportunities to learn.

Using three different layers: Strategic, Operational, and Tactical.
You are brought into the area of Northern Germany, with NATO's NORTHAG being the focus point. At hexes that portray 9km-areas, the operational tactical aspect of war will come to life in a scale you won't believe!
For this, we use Tabletop Simulator and the module Red Strike 1989 (Created by us for VUCA Simulations) that we have further configured to our Able Archer '86 version. It adds the tactical layer, and transfers a lot of the air war from the hex board to DCS.
The rules are complex, they are many, and there's a lot to read. But hey, if that sounds like fun, then this is for you!
You can see our project to convert Red Strike to TTS here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3451498099
We will further customize it with different rules and a more zoomed-in map.
Decisive battles will become battlefieds in Arma 3 and the DLC Global Mobilization: Cold War Germany. On the boardgame, a decisive battle can be assigned at the end of the turn stage. That fight will then be fought in Arma, and its results will carry over.
There will be no arsenal here, and you won't even have a radio. Thus, you can't talk to your squad leader if you aren't near them. It'll be slower paced, confusing, and hard. The best kind of Arma!
There will be a company commander and all subordinate roles. If you are all about planning and tactics, choosing a leadership role will serve you well. If you wish to just follow someone and go shoot, grab a rifleman.
You will play as one of the appropriate compositions from the units under the Corps of NORTHAG, depending on the location of the battle.
NATO will have human logistics. Supply entering the Strategic Map will be moved by humans in Microsoft Flight Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2. Failed deliveries will reduce the available supply to NATO, and severely constrain frontline operations.
