"Helbach Farms LLC in Amherst, WI is hiring an Assistant Storage Manager!
We are looking for a highly motivated and driven individual to assist in all operational aspects of the potato and corn storage. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a can-do attitude, responsible for working with the Storage Manager on all aspects of storage from harvesting, loading trucks, grading boxes before shipping and seed cutting.
Key Responsibilities
• Be responsible for the day-to-day operation of loading and unloading potatoes
• Follow all instructions on daily tasks
• Keep accurate and detailed records for all required SOP’s
• Assist and assure effective inventory control within company requirements
• Lead in preventative maintenance and repair equipment and buildings
• Sorting product before shipping
• Run forklift for unloading, loading boxes.
• Assist in operation and maintenance of the corn drying systems
Special Demands
• Heavy-duty, operational, mechanical, and technical hands-on responsibilities
• Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, kneel, and bend
• Frequently required to lift or move more than 50 pounds
• Outdoor work environment, including heights and inclement weather
• Weekend availability required.

Position Summary: The Cattle Manager will oversee the daily operations and management of an Angus Seed Stock Cattle Operation, ensuring the health, productivity, and genetic excellence of the herd. This role requires a strong understanding of livestock management, genetics, breeding programs, and business operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for advancing the quality and performance of the herd while maintaining high standards of animal welfare and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Herd Management:
Oversee the care, feeding, and overall health of the cattle herd, ensuring optimal performance and productivity.
Implement and monitor vaccination, deworming, and overall health protocols.
Manage calving operations, including health checks and documentation of births.
Breeding Program:
Develop and execute strategic breeding plans to improve genetic traits in the herd.
Utilize artificial insemination (AI) and/or embryo transfer (ET) technologies as needed.
Maintain accurate breeding and genetic records, including pedigree tracking.
Operational Management:
Plan and coordinate daily operations, including feeding schedules, pasture rotation, and equipment maintenance.
Monitor and manage pasture conditions, forage quality, and supplemental feeding programs.
Supervise and train ranch hands and other staff members.
Marketing and Sales:
Collaborate with leadership to develop strategies for promoting and selling seed stock animals.
Represent the operation at livestock shows, sales events, and industry conferences.
Maintain strong relationships with customers and industry partners.
Recordkeeping and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of herd performance, health, and financials.
Prepare reports and provide updates to ownership on operational and financial metrics.
Stay informed on industry trends, research, and best practices.
Facility and Equipment Management:
Ensure that all facilities, fencing, and equipment are maintained in good working condition.
Oversee improvements or repairs to infrastructure as needed.
Operate and maintain farm equipment, including tractors, loaders, and other machinery.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in managing a seed stock or cow-calf operation.
Strong knowledge of cattle genetics, breeding techniques, and animal nutrition.
Familiarity with livestock management software and recordkeeping systems.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to operate farm equipment and perform basic maintenance tasks.
Mechanical knowledge for diagnosing and repairing equipment as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with AI and ET technologies.
Knowledge of pasture management and forage systems.
Previous involvement in livestock marketing and customer relations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, herding, and operating machinery.
Compensation and Benefits:
$23. to $25 to start
