Integrated Math 1

At AEON School, students are placed in the math course that best suits their ability level, allowing for personalized and effective learning. While some students take courses above or below their grade level, most eighth-graders enroll in Integrated Math 1, which introduces key algebraic and geometric concepts foundational for higher-level math.

In Integrated Math 1, students explore:

• Slope as a rate of change: Understanding its concept and practical applications in various contexts.

• Algebraic equations: Writing and solving equations to address problems involving rate, time, and distance.

• Linear equations and data: Using equations of lines to represent datasets and make predictions.

• Systems of linear equations: Solving these systems through graphing, substitution, and elimination methods.

• Quadratic equations: Simplifying quadratic expressions and solving equations using algebraic properties.

• Graphs of quadratic functions: Analyzing the properties of parabolas, including vertex, axis of symmetry, and intercepts.

• Euclidean distance: Applying the Pythagorean Theorem to solve real-world problems.
