This is a go-at-your-own-pace, 8-level certificate program in Electrical Construction with its primary focus on Commercial and Industrial electrical construction. Similar in content to the Electrical Apprenticeship, this program has a heavier concentration on practical hands-on and on-the-job learning. Students in this program attend related classroom and hands-on lab instruction classes in the evenings from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM (nights of the week depend on classes for your classification and their availability). Completion of this program leads to an IBEW/NECA certificate of completion.
The day to day activities of a CW and CE are very similar to those of the Inside Wireman program.
CONSTRUCTION WIREMAN (CW) LEVELS 1 - 5
No experience required to begin at the CW1 Level. Applicants who are able to document and demonstrate 1 to 4 years of experience may be eligible to begin at one of the following levels:
CW2, CW3, CW4, or CW5.
Applying for the CE program with no experience does not guarantee you a job with a contractor; there are fewer positions available for inexperienced CE Program applicants
As you're completing the initial application process, you'll want to go ahead and submit your documentation of academic and/or hands-on experience. What constitutes adequate documentation? Read more about requesting academic and/or on-the-job learning credit here...
CONSTRUCTION ELECTRICIAN (CE) LEVELS 1 - 3
Applicants who are able to document and demonstrate 5 or more years of experience may be eligible to begin at one of the following levels:
CE1, CE2, or CE3.
If you believe you fall into this group of applicants, you should start by contacting the IBEW Business and Membership development office at 404 523 8107 extension 5.
They will help you determine what documentation you'll need and help you with scheduling any needed evaluations.
