Desalination of Water

STEM TIME: SCIENCE ONLINE WORKSHOP led by the Irish partners.

When we look at planet Earth we see a beautiful blue and green planet. With so much water to be seen, why is there such a water crisis? We were amazed to discover that less than 1% of the Earth's water is available for use. 

We wondered....in the same way we could remove dirt from water to make it clean, is it possible to remove salt from water to make it freshwater? 

We set up a solar desalination system and discussed some of the pros and cons of removing salt from water to produce fresh water.
