On a survey conducted by the Ateneo de Zamboanga University SHS entitled, VOZES ATENISTA: An Electoral Survey on the 2025 National and Local elections, 428 respondents from students accessed it. However, 26 decided to opt out by the virtue of the Data Privacy Act. Hence, as of March 15, 2025, 6 AM, a total of 402 answered the survey.

RESPONDENTS

90% of the respondents are Grade 12, Senior High School students. Therefore, the results in this report reflects from primarily their responses. From a total 362 respondents, only 161 of them are registered voters.

AGE

Majority of the respondents are young voters, with the graph showing that 87% of the respondents are aged 18–20, and 13% of them 16–17; and a significant amount of them are first time voters, reflected by a significant 96%.

VOTE INCENTIVE

Fortunately, a large majority of the respondents— taking up 81%—aim to vote on May 12, 2025. 17% are undecided. A big portion of the respondents are registered as voters in Zamboanga City.

Being students of an institution that carries their own rooted core values, respondents were then questioned on which candidates they prefer based on: Atenean values, principles of good governance, national issues/concerns, and local issues/concerns.

VOTER PREFERENCE

The top three Ateneans that the respondents prefer are competence, compassion, and character, taking up 30%, 26%, and 22% respectively.

GOOD GOVERNANCE

The top three principles of good governance the respondents prefer are transparency, effectiveness and efficiency, and accountability, taking up 23%, 15%, and 14% respectively.

NATIONAL CONCERNS

The top three national issues/concerns are as follows: Controlling the prices of basic services and goods, reducing the poverty and hunger of Filipinos, and strengthening the health care system. They take up 17%, 14%, and 13% respectively.

LOCAL CONCERNS

The top three local issues/concerns are as follows: Peace and Order (drugs, shooting incidents, crime), Traffic Congestion and Infrastructure Projects, and Access to education. They each take up 17%, 16%, and 15% of the respondents respectively.
