This week has been awesome! Science has started back up, and everything is going smoothly!
Discover
This week, Discover Studio continued working on Science Squads for quest.
For Writer's workshop, all Heroes that have completed the first draft of their twist on the short story "There was an old lady who swallowed a fly.." received and gave peer feedback to a partner before moving on to editing and making revisions for final drafts.
The entire studio has enjoyed the new online learning platform, Night Zookeeper, that will take the place of Spelling A-Z. In addition to Night Zookeeper, Spelling and Vocab Lab has been added to the weekly schedule that incorporates "pencil-to-paper" spelling and vocabulary challenges.
The topic of discussions this week has been addressing the "3 Monsters of the Studio, " which are Distraction, Victimhood, and Resistance. The focus this week has been the Distraction Monster, and how each Hero can defeat it every day. Next week, the Studio will discuss and practice ways to defeat the Victimhood Monster.
Discover Heroes have continued to work toward productive work blocks, work organization, and building the tribe through social challenges and self-motivated learning opportunities.
Explore
MS has been down a few children due to cedar fever, covid and whatever mystery flu has been circulating, but we are almost back at capacity this week. Science is up and running. They are exploring biology through hands-on experiments on BLUBBER and how it keeps animals warm. The work they are doing in Writers Workshop is closely paired with the science intertwining topics and research related to notable people of science, and the work of Darwin.
Friday will bring a kitchen experiment as the MS plans to make donuts!
Ignite
They are finally getting most of their tribe back together and healthy. The Heroes have truly shown this week that they know what they need to do with their morning work cycle. They are moving forward leaps and bounds. They have enjoyed doing physical maths this week, racing and skip counting. The Heroes look forward to Science Squads each week and this week was all about blubber. They started learning fruits in Spanish. They glad to be back with this loving tribe.
We have all had a fun week, and we hope you had one too!
