This week a lot of things have been happening. We have started science, and a big congrats to Jackson Delio for officially becoming a college student!
The Discover Studio learned about Martin Luther King Jr. for civilization and the way he "fought" for human equality with peaceful protests, backed with love and forgiveness, and a firmness of character.
They continued drafting their version of "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" for Writer's Workshop, paying attention to the overarching theme of patterns and sequences.
This week's Studio Challenge was to work on Math at least 30 minutes per day, and log work minutes on the posted Studio Calendar.
Next week's challenge will be to work through Core Skills quietly, in addition to working in Math daily.
They will also be hosting a bake sale at Ace Hardware this Saturday at 8:00 am till noon.
This week in the Primary Studio, they painted maps of Antarctica, learned about and painted Orca whales and penguins and had a friendship picnic lunch.
In the launchpad Jackson experienced a virtual open house with fellow Acton Launchpad heroes, spread out throughout the globe. They have been invited to a pilot program to connect and collaborate with other Acton Launchpad heroes, via a new online platform. Looking forward to what fresh moments lay ahead to build relationships and share ideas with fellow heroes.
The Middle School jumped into science this week working with their squads to discover the solar systems. Each squad built solar systems and were judged on the basis of knowledge and presentation. The top points went to Ari's group, The Monkeys! Mia's group, The Hedgehogs came in Second and all other squads tied for 3rd.
In other news, MS began learning about biographies and will continue researching and discover the impact of significant people in science. Their work will culminate in research papers about the person of science of their choosing.
The Science Squads have been a big focus this week! The Heroes have enjoyed every second being part of their squads with the big kids!! The first challenge was a success and each squad did a fantastic job sharing their knowledge on the Solar System! They have also started learning some Spanish words, revisiting colors and numbers. The Heroes have been practicing their writing in their journals and mastering lots of spelling words! The peace table has been utilized and the Heroes have come up with wonderful solutions to manage their conflict! What a wonderful growth filled week They have had!
