BRHS students are allowed to dual enroll through Central Alabama Community College (CACC) and Auburn University (AU First).
CACC has many online and in-person options. All registrations and withdrawals must be approved by a BRHS Counselor.
Auburn First only offers online options. All registrations and withdrawals are handled by the student without involvement with the BRHS Counselor.
CACC Deadlines - These deadlines are non-negotiable. They are BRHS deadlines.
March 1st for summer semester registrations
May 1st for fall semester registrations
November 1st for spring semester registrations
AU First Deadlines

Students must qualify to take Math and English courses at CACC. Qualifying scores can be earned through the Accuplacer or the ACT. More information about qualifying scores is available at https://www.cacc.edu/services/accuplacer-placement-testing.
The English Accuplacer will be offered once each semester on BR's campus. The Math Accuplacer will be offered once each semester on BR's campus. Students must schedule their own test through CACC if they miss the opportunities at BRHS. The Accuplacer is a free test.
The ACT will be given to all 11th-graders in March of the 11th-grade year. The ACT on BR's campus is free to students. Students must pay for all other attempts.
Pros
Students are able to earn college credit while in high school.
There are many dual enrollment scholarship options for CACC.
All registrations and withdrawals must be approved by a BRHS Counselor.
Cons
Many students are not ready for the rigor and independence required by college courses.
Per FERPA guidelines, post-secondary institutions do not share information with parents/guardians. The only information given to BRHS Counselors is the final grade at the end of the semester. Students need to be independent.

Complete your application to be a student at CACC at www.cacc.edu. Apply as a dual enrollment student. Make sure your application is 100% complete.
Fill out the "Ready to Register" Google Form in your counselor's Google Classroom. This lets your counselor know that you're ready to meet to discuss which classes you want to take.
Meet with your counselor to fill out the Statement of Eligibility & Registration Form and decide on classes. You will receive many emails from CACC regarding documents to be submitted, but all documents will be submitted by BRHS counselors after this meeting.
Get the Statement of Eligibility & Registration Form signed by your parent/guardian and return it to your counselor.
Your counselor will submit your Statement of Eligibility & Registration Form and transcript to CACC. You should stop receiving emails about documents that need to be submitted after this step is complete.
