Class Expectations

This is a strange year... We have a fraction of the time that we would normally have together this year and who knows what could happen tomorrow... and that's ok! As a result, we need to be focused, flexible and ready to work whenever we are together in the 8th Grade art room. Moving forward we will be calling 'working in the art room' as "Studio Time".

One of the reasons why there is so much "choice" freedom in this class is because when we are together for Studio Time, I want you to be invested and excited to work during the time that you are in the art room.

If having too much choice in what you create freaks you out ("I have no good ideas!"), I also will have projects and art skill builders that you can choose to do. These will also count towards artwork in your Art Portfolio each class! However you choose to use Studio Time, EVERYONE will be working on something artful. And "artful" takes many different shapes for many different people.

Regardless of what or how you are working on art during Studio Time there will be a few requirements:

  1. EVERY day that you are physically in the art room you are expected to be doing something artful... Maybe that's planning sketches, theme research or actively working on an artwork. Whatever it is, it has to have something to do with art.

  2. Whatever you do during Studio Time you must document what you did with a photo that can then be added to your Google Slides Digital Art Portfolio. Even if the work is simply planning or not finished, YOU MUST DOCUMENT WHAT YOU DID!

  3. You will be documenting what you did during Studio Time with a digital photo.

  4. On every other Wednesday when we meet remotely:

**Make you are showing up to class! If for some reason you can't, you need to contact me and let me know what happened.

**Do the work in the remote class! Sometimes it will be a scavenger hunt around your house, other times it will be a group activity, or maybe looking at and discussing important works of art. Whatever the activity is make sure to PARTICIPATE.
