You will find it much easier to generate ideas if you have selected a solid theme. It doesn't even have to be a complicated theme - choose anything that resonates with you: a favorite movie or book, a hobby, a holiday, a color scheme, a season, rustic, vintage, retro, boho, etc. Some events benefit from a theme that simply guides the direction - such as cozy, whimsical, or minimalist. Be creative and specific, because the theme provides direction for your decorations, invitations, activities and overall mood.
Here are a few ideas to get you thinking:
Y Christmas party themes
Y Halloween party themes
Y Bridal shower themes
Y Baby shower themes
Y Wedding reception themes
Y Piano recital themes
Really, though, the possibilities are endless. If you're stuck, choose an emotion you want to convey and build around that. Grab a piece of paper and begin brainstorming what would elicit that emotion.
I love that we live in a time when what is considered 'traditional' holds less control than it did 30 years ago. I have a friend who had a terrific Doctor Who-themed wedding reception, so go with what resonates with you!
You've got this!
