Dance recitals, orchestra concerts, and piano recitals can also utilize a theme to get the creative ideas flowing. Here are a few theme ideas in no particular order that could work for any kind of music concert of recital! Use these ideas as a starting point and come up with activities that accomplish your goal. I thought about creating individual pages with lots of ideas for each theme, but decided that this is an ideas page to get you thinking. It is not a 'planned for you' party page because then the plans won't be focused on your goals and objectives. That being said, if you do an internet search for specific themes, you will find lots of ideas! I also put together a Pinterest board with helpful links.

Thank you for supporting my small business!
Perform music from popular musicals.
Roll out the red carpet; decorate with red and gold.
Perform songs from different eras - this works especially well if you do them in chronological order.
Alternately, you could select one 'time' and focus on that. For example, a Jazz recital or a 50's recital would have lots of options.
Allow students to simply pick a favorite song to perform.
Decorate with 'brown paper' and ribbon.
Perform international music.
Hang a map and let students show where their music originated.
You could also just focus on one geographical area (music from South America, music from Africa, etc.)
Play upbeat songs and tell jokes between numbers.
Print the program backwards with some words upside down or other such silliness.
Play songs about fairies and dragons, mermaids and knights.
Most holidays have great music available to perform - Independence Day, Christmas, and Halloween in particular.
Decorate for that holiday and do some holiday trivia.
Invite students to compose their own music for performance.
