2023 Leadership Conference

DATE: March 30 to April 2, 2023

LOCATION:  Via Zoom and one day in Sacramento, CA  

• The annual Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project (APYLP) conference provides a select group of 50 Asian and Pacific Islander seniors and juniors from public, private and charter high schools throughout California with a unique opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of the legislative process, community leadership, and political activism.

•  Although any California junior or senior year high school student may apply, APYLP strongly encourages applications from Asian and Pacific Islander youth who have some leadership experience

• There is no cost to students accepted to the high school leadership conference. Through its fundraising efforts and generous sponsorships, APYLP pays all costs for travel, lodging, meals, and conference materials for all students selected to participate in the conference.

• Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than January 31, 2023. so don’t delay and apply now!

Eve And Gene Black Summer Medical Career Program

Open to all Juniors and Seniors  

• The Los Angeles Pediatric Society established the Eve and Gene Black Summer Medical Career Program in 1969 and is proud to celebrate its 54th year in 2023. The purpose of the program is to encourage high school students to choose careers in the health professions.

• This program is best described as a medical mentor program. Participants will attend daily online sessions with presentations/interactive sessions from a variety of general pediatricians, specialists, including surgeons, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, infectious disease, ophthalmologists, radiologists, child life, and  therapists, (i.e., physical, speech, occupational, or cognitive).

The 2023 ONLINE session dates are:

Session 1: July 10-20, 2023 - Monday - Thursday from 10:00 am to 12:15 pm

Session 2: July 24-Aug 3, 2023 - Monday - Thursday from 10:00 am to 12:15 pm
