Parent Aide time: Morning: 8:45am-12:15pm - Afternoon: 12:00pm-3:30pm
Class time: Morning: 9:15am-11:45am - Afternoon: 12:30pm-3:00pm
45-minute free play/centers: Typically, 3 optional center activities, different each class.
25-minute circle time: Songs, story time, dancing/movement, show and tell, etc.!
20-minute snack: Students bring a snack, find their placemat, help clean up.
20-minute book/puzzle time: Independent quiet time on circle time carpet.
20-minute project: Daily project, often around the month’s theme.
20-minute gross motor activity: Outside play to -20F, children get themselves ready.
Label all belongings and gear with your child’s name! (masking tape works well!)
Classroom supplies - A one-time list will be provided at Parent Orientation.
Backpack - For bringing things back and forth.
School shoes - that your child can put on without assistance, no laces. These stay at school.
Extra set of clothes - in a bag labeled with their name. These stay in your child’s backpack.
Snack & water bottle - finger foods are best. No juice, please.
Outdoor gear - appropriate for the weather. There will be outside play until -20F.
Dress for mess - Preschool can include active and messy, art, recipes, and play!
Throughout the school year preschoolers will have a variety of fun days and field trips. Beach Day, Easter egg hunt, fall performance, color days, Valentine’s party, and graduation to name a few!
The preschool does not have a passenger van or school bus. Students are transported in parent vehicles (insurance verified by the teacher) to field trip locations. Siblings and family members are welcome and encouraged to sign up & attend field trips!
Past field trips have included: Fairbanks Children's Museum, Fairbanks Fire Department, Fairbanks International Airport, FNSB Central Recycling Facility, Large Animal Research Station, Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center, Noel Wien Public Library, North Star Ballet, Safeway, Costco, and the University of Alaska Museum of the North.
Many community members, parents and family members have shared their interests, skills, and passions with our students as guest speakers.
