Rights Respecting School

Rights Respecting School

The Rights Respecting Schools Award puts children’s rights at the heart of schools in the UK.

Tullos Primary School is proud to be a Bronze "Rights Respecting School". This is the first award given to schools by UNICEF, a leading organisation for children and their rights. This means that we have begun our journey to becoming a Rights Respecting School.

We aim to incorporate children’s rights into our relationships policy and refer to them frequently to create a safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured, and they are able to thrive.

The pupil voice is paramount at Tullos Primary School, and we are in the process of creating a Rights Respecting Council to ensure every child's right to have their voice heard is respected. We have a range of groups on which children serve and represent their class facilitating their voice.

Each group also ensures that the rights of others are respected, making our school a happier, safer and more respectful place to learn and work.

A rights-respecting school not only teaches about children's rights, but also models rights and respect in all its relationships between adults and children, between children themselves, and between adults themselves.
