It has been another busy term training the new Bronze participants and recruiting new Silver participants.
Bronze DofE
2018/19 cohort: To date, 14 participants have completed their DofE programme and were presented with their Bronze badges yesterday (18th December) – congratulations and well done! Their certificates will be presented at the end of year Awards Ceremony.
2019/20 cohort: So far, participants have covered the following expedition training sessions: navigation and route planning including preparatory map skills, practical map skills and compass skills. They have also covered observation recording and presentations.
Silver DofE
2018/19 cohort: participants have been completing their outstanding Sections. It is hoped they will have their DofE programme completed before study leave (April 2020).
2019/20 cohort: 13 S4 pupils have signed up to do their Silver DofE. We have already had a couple of after-school meetings with weekly expedition training sessions beginning after the Christmas holidays.
As part of DofE, participants also gain a Saltire ‘Approach’ Award to recognise their volunteering within the school or their local community.
Thank you to all the DofE Leaders that work with the participants on a weekly basis, to all members of staff that provide activities for the participants to do, and to all members of staff that support on an ad hoc basis.
