It has been another busy few terms for both participants and leaders.
Participants have been involved in a wide range of activities for their Bronze programmes, including:
Volunteering – young leader in a uniformed youth organisation, litter picking, helping people, charity administration & event planning, young coach in a judo club, Active School’s ambassador & member of the Active School’s committee.
Physical – walking, weightlifting, football, cycling, and running.
Skills – cooking, baking, painting, drawing, playing piano, playing guitar, and learning Korean.
Participants have covered the following expedition training sessions: first aid & emergency procedures; an awareness of risk and health & safety; navigation & route planning; preparatory map skills; campcraft, equipment & hygiene; food & cooking; Scottish Outdoor Access Code; observation recording & presentations; and teambuilding.
We ran two day walks to meet the requirements of the Expedition section.
To date, 2 participants have been presented with their Bronze DofE Award. It is hoped that we will be able to present a few more in the coming months.
Congratulations to Sanoja and Hafsa on achieving their Bronze DofE Award. Well done!
As part of DofE, participants also gain a Saltire ‘Approach’ Award to recognise their volunteering within the school or their local community. We are also trialling the Bronze Youth Achievement Award alongside the above this session.
Thank you to all the DofE Leaders that work with the participants on a weekly basis, to all members of staff that provide activities for the participants to do, and to all members of staff that support on an ad hoc basis.
