What is YPI?
The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) is a powerful active citizenship programme empowering young people to make a difference in their communities while developing a range of skills. YPI engages a full year-group of students, developing skills and confidence through a contextualised learning experience. The programme raises awareness of social issues and local charities and provides a unique model of devolved, locally driven grant-making.
Charity Fair
We hosted a Charity Fair to introduce young people to a selection of charities addressing different social issues in their area.
In order to ensure charities and pupils get the most from the experience, a number of schools are preparing booklets in advance of the event which include details about the charities in attendance, contact details, and QR codes to scan to access more information.
Curriculum for Excellence
Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) CfE is intended to foster the four capacities in all young people: successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens, and effective contributors (see diagram on page 3). The many synergies between YPI and CfE are clear when YPI is mapped against E&Os, and the four capacities and contexts. The programme supports outcomes focused on values, skills development, and community engagement.
