Practical Cookery - Siberia Bar and Hotel

Our S3 Practical Cookery pupils had the opportunity to complete elements of their course at Siberia. Siberia Bar and Hotel which is based in Aberdeen city centre. For example, pupils covered 'Food Storage and Food Preparation' at Siberia and took part in team activities to place orders, store food and hygiene for raw materials.  Pupils had five sessions at Siberia and their favourite session elements was menu planning and serving. Pupils created menus for Siberia which supported pupils to understand the preparation for dishes and the range of ingredients that are required.

The Rowett Institute

We were grateful to have had Professor Wendy Russell led a session on nature-based solutions for our S3 Health and Food Technology class. Pupils learnt about the impact of lack of adequate u which is a crucial concern globally. They specifically learned about nutrition and farming in Malawi and were provided real life care scenarios.

Pupils also had a session with Professor Alex Johnstone and Dr Marta Lonnie and they completed a task which involved pupils using tools and platforms to analyse meals and their nutritional values which is a key part of the curriculum.
