What is a Primary Bursary?
The following pupils are entitled to apply for a P6 or P7 bursary:
Pupils who are in P6
Pupils who are near the start of P7
Pupils who are near the end of P5
The ACMS P6 and P7 bursary provides free weekly 30-minute lessons in term time with an ACMS tutor, who, in addition, demonstrate potential and commitment to their chosen instrument. Successful candidates who accept places on the bursary scheme are required to audition formally for ACMS in their P7 year. If the pupil chooses not to audition or take up an offer of a place, there is a requirement to pay back all bursary lessons to Aberdeen City Council.
Come and Play Days
Throughout the year ACMS run several "Come and Play" days. These after school sessions are open to all 9-16 year old pupils who are interested in music. Each session is themed e.g. voice, strings or traditional music, and is run by our music tutors and senior pupils. It is a wonderful opportunity to come to ACMS and enjoy music in a relaxed manner.
Open Morning
Once a year we open our doors on a Sunday morning and invite members of the public to visit ACMS.
During this time visitors hear our pupils perform and a talk from the Director of ACMS and Head Teacher of Dyce Academy before going on a tour of the music school and it's facilities, including the library and the boarding house.
Over coffee visitors are able to chat with both pupils and staff and we will try to answer any questions that visitors may arise.
