Our aim is to povide a caring, structured environment within which young people are encouraged and supported to become responsible citizens and to reach their full musical, educational and social potential, based on mutual respect for each other and the environment.
ACMS Boarding provides accomodation for pupils aged 11 to 18 years who attend ACMS. The Boarding house has 40 rooms arranged over 4 floors. Accommodation is divided into boys and girls corridors. Each bedroom has en-suite bathrooms. Wifi is available throughout the building.
While in Boarding all pupils are encouraged to keep up with their schoolwork, staff will endeavour to help in any way they can. There is also provision for music practice, with a dedicated percussion space, and three pianos for housemates to use.
To support Housemates to relax and to enjoy some "downtime" we have created our very own Wellbeing Room. This calming space can be enjoyed by making use of the comfortable seating, oversized beanbags, sensory blankets, projector, fidget toys etc. In addition to our Wellbeing Room we have also created an Art Room where Housemates are free to create art masterpieces in a quiet, relaxing space.
All young people are allocated a keyworker, who will touch base with them on a regular basis and help identify any goals / outcomes that are to be worked on that year. These will be reviewed regularly.
We plan regluar activities to help Housemates relax, have fun, learn something new and to build on life skills. We offer a range of activities e.g. quizzes, outings (by hiring a minibus), crafts, cooking, games, and weekly hire of Dyce Academy's sports hall for badminton / basketball etc.
On the ground floor of the Boarding House there is plenty of space for socialising in the evenings. There is a large kitchen which Housemates can use to prepare snacks and develop their cooking skiils. There is also a games area which includes a Wii console, a table tennis table and a pool table.
