About me
Hello,
My name is Natnael Zewdu Mohammed. I am from Shakiso, Oromia, and am a 4th year civil engineering student at AASTU. I am the kind of person who is active in business, and I am currently studying business administration at the University of the People USA (online). I want to involve myself in the real estate world in the future, so I am doing a lot of work that will help me achieve my future goal. Recently, I have been working with DINK TV, a world-wide channel based in Ethiopia, and I work as a program advisor at the DINK CRIBS program, which is all about introducing modern real estate that is located in Addis Abeba. Last but not least,I really love to develop and change the real estate business in Ethiopia by taking one step forward in future engineering.
Week 1
It was our first week. I was a bit late about the information, but I managed to get to know my groupmates and have some information about the IETP and its goal, and I was excited to be more involved in the up-coming work, so I did start brainstorming myself. Overall, it was a good experience.
Week 2
WeekWeek two was a bit challenging because we were told to come up with an idea within a week, but I managed to do so and come up with an idea about smart parking technology. I saw that I was behind, and I tried to catch up with others by reading some materials that were posted on the official telegram page of Group 30 students.
Week 3
It was better this time and I found out that my first project was not compatible with the aim of the IETP project , because it wasn’t inclusive to other engineering students like environmental ,chemical and others, this happend because I didn’t read the whole guide and rule but later I came up with the idea that will include my other group mates, which is Home level electricity generation which we all found interesting then later we did some modification with the help of my other group mates and did great job and gain lots of knowledge beyond our expectations like when we modify my work my fellow electrical, mechanical and electromechanical mate did a really great job and I want to give them thanks for there brilliant idea and modifications to my project idea.
Week 4
This week we were divided task in order to write proposals, so I was reading some materials about how to write properly and Writing a proposal can be a multifaceted and rewarding process that demands careful thought, strategic planning, and effective communication. As I reflect on the experience of crafting a proposal, several key insights come to mind, and it is a dynamic and enriching experience that goes beyond the mere act of putting words on paper. It involves research, strategic thinking, persuasive communication, collaboration, and a willingness to iterate and improve. The skills developed through the process of proposal writing are not only applicable in the specific context of proposals but also transferable to various other forms of written communication.
Week 5
Before advancing to the subsequent phase of prototype development, it is imperative to deliver and finalize the project proposal. The project proposal, as a civil engineer, aims to introduce home-level electricity production. Addressing feasibility, regulatory compliance, and risk factors, it outlines a cost-effective, environmentally friendly system. With a clear timeline and budget, the proposal paves the way for a successful prototype, emphasizing sustainability in residential energy solutions.
Week 6
procurement this week, our next step involves procuring materials essential for the initiative. We've prepared a Bill of materials and a Procurement plan, awaiting approval from our advisor to secure project funding. This process has given us valuable insights into professional protocols, particularly those mandated by government organizations, for formally documenting financial transactions and decisions. Meanwhile, our team is actively collecting necessary project materials that have yet to be purchased during the ongoing financial processing period.
Week 7
Following the conclusion of the financial procedures, we proceeded with the acquisition of essential project materials. Adhering to the stipulations outlined in the bill of materials and procurement plan, we initiated the procurement process for electronic components such as motors, batteries, Wi-Fi modules, and relays. Simultaneously, we secured construction materials like papers, plywood, markers, and boards essential for the project's physical structure and implementation.
Week 8
This week, as a civil engineer, my construction team progresses by erecting the house according to the original design blueprint. This involves coordinating various elements to ensure structural integrity and adherence to the planned specifications, emphasizing precision and efficiency in the building process.
Week 9
Throughout the week, our primary emphasis was on enhancing the prototype's design and incorporating extra features. We dedicated time to brainstorming various methods to enhance the user-friendliness and efficiency of the prototype. However, we encountered challenges related to energy generation as the motor generator we acquired proved to be inefficient for the project's needs. Consequently, we had to explore alternative motor types that would align with our project specifications. Additionally, we successfully completed the structural aspect of the project during this time.
Week 10
While actively refining the prototype's design and functionality, we conducted thorough testing and implemented essential adjustments to guarantee its proper functioning. Among these modifications was the incorporation of a custom-made 3D-printed gear for the power generator, aimed at optimizing energy generation.
Week 11
This week, our software development team made notable progress. We successfully completed the mobile application code and Arduino programming, achieving seamless integration with the relay module. This integration now allows virtual control of the pumps via the mobile application, along with the capability to monitor the project's power status, moisture levels, and water level.
In parallel with these technical accomplishments, we dedicated time to thorough preparations for our impending final presentation. We are gearing up to showcase our achievements and share insights into the project's advancements.
