About Me
Hello, my name is bethelehem ketema. Welcome to my IETP weekly report page. I am a 4th year electrical engineering student who is constantly eager to learn and grow. While I may not have a long list of specific achievements, I bring with me a strong work ethic, determination, and the ability to adapt to new challenges. I am passionate about socializing, building connections, and engaging in diverse perspectives and ideas and find joy in joining social clubs or organizations, attending networking events, participating in group discussions or debates.
# Week 1
In the first week i met my team members and my advisor as well. The time was all about getting to know each other and having a clear insight about the project. So our advisor gave us a description about the goal of the project and how we can do it. He also told us that we are expected to come up with our own project idea. Finally our advisor guided us how to generate our project idea and the considerations that We have to take and told us to come up with our project idea in accordance to Form A for the next week.
#Week 2
In this week i just tried to come up with project idea that can align with at least one UN SDG and considers our budget and time to finish our project in effective way. I also tried to consider whether my project idea can be implemented as prototype or not. In this week of gathering we all came up with our project idea and our advisor gave us comments according to including all department students contribution, budget, time, feasibility and implementation as prototype. So he just told us we will pick one idea in our next week appointment and until that if we have something to amend according to the comments we can do it and talk about it next week.
#Week 3
This week we were more relaxed to talk and communicate to each other and also with our advisor. We also choose a group leader who will going to use as a bridge between us and our advisor. We also choose our meetup day. This week was the first week that we meet as a group with out our advisor and it was fun. We are discussing to choose 3 best project ideas. After we chose that we talk to have enough information in our role on the project. Then finally in this week our e-portfolio is done and also we send our picked project ideas according to the Form.
#Week 4
In this week our advisor tells us to work on the proposal. So, we meet and discuss about how we will be going to work on it. And we decide to divide the parts and to combine it together later.
#Week 5
This week, we focused on developing our proposal and dedicated a significant amount of time to refining and perfecting it. We are pleased to announce that we successfully submitted our proposal by the deadline and are looking forward to the next steps in the process. We are proud of the hard work and dedication that went into this project and are excited to see where it takes us.
# Week 6
In this week, we have carefully compiled a comprehensive list of all the materials required for our project. which includes equipment, tools and any other necessary resources. To ensure sound financial planning, we have conducted a detailed cost analysis of the identified materials. Each item has been researched, and the associated costs have been included in the overall project budget. This analysis helps us to allocate our financial resource effectively. We also submit our bill of materials and discussed the procurement process and how we plan to acquire the necessary materials with our advisor. Additionally, we have detailed our plan for initiating the project and outlined the steps involved in getting started.
# Week 7
Once the financial procedures were finalized, we proceeded with the procurement of the necessary project materials. Adhering to the bill of materials and procurement plan, we initiated the purchase of various items essential for both the electronic and construction aspects of the project. These items included components such as motors, batteries, Wi-Fi modules, and relays for the electronic part, as well as supplies like papers, plywood, markers, and boards for the construction phase.
#week 8
During the initiation of the prototype fabrication, the team members were assigned separate tasks. The civil construction team proceeded with the construction of the house according to the initial design blueprint. Simultaneously, the electrical team commenced testing and constructing the energy generating circuit and battery storage. Throughout this process, I gained insights into the significance of collaboration and communication in ensuring the seamless integration of all prototype components. Additionally, I recognized the value of adaptability and flexibility when confronted with unexpected challenges, which necessitated adjustments to our approach.
#week 9
Throughout the week, our primary focus was on enhancing the design and incorporating supplementary functionalities into the prototype. We dedicated time to brainstorming various approaches to enhance user-friendliness and optimize efficiency. However, we encountered challenges related to energy generation during this period. The motor generator we initially acquired proved to be inefficient for our project's requirements. Consequently, we had to explore alternative motor options that aligned with our project specifications.
#week 10
While striving to enhance the prototype's design and functionality, we diligently conducted thorough testing and implemented any essential modifications to ensure its proper operation. Among these adjustments, we opted to utilize a custom-made 3D printed gear for the power generator, aiming to improve energy generation capabilities.
#week 11
this week, as we approach the final stages of our project, we have dedicated considerable efforts towards preparing for the final presentation and finalizing our project prototype. In order to deliver a compelling and comprehensive final presentation, I have been working diligently to prepare all the necessary materials. This includes creating visually appealing slides, refining the content for clarity and conciseness, and rehearsing the delivery to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated presentation. Simultaneously, we have devoted significant time and effort towards finalizing our project prototype.
#week 12
In our last week, we present our prototype to the assigned evaluator. We were thrilled to showcase our prototype to the assigned evaluator. And I had the opportunity to present our project to the evaluator. During the presentation, we walked the evaluator through the key features, functionalities, and objectives of the prototype, aiming to effectively communicate its purpose and potential impact. our prototype presentation and project defense session proved to be immensely valuable experiences. We successfully presented our prototype to the evaluator and answered inquiries raised throughout the presentation. The lessons we learned in terms of prototype presentation and project defense will undoubtedly contribute to the success of our future endeavors.
