Hello!  My name is Shakira Player, and I am excited to work with your child(ren) this year in the library at Eberwhite!  It is my goal that our school library program will foster a love of reading, a curiosity for information and research, inspire life-long learning, and support and enrich classroom instruction in literacy and technology.  It is my goal that these experiences will create memories that will last a lifetime for our students!

This is my eighth year as the school librarian at Eberwhite.  Before becoming a certified school librarian, I was a classroom teacher for nine years.  I taught 4th grade, kindergarten, and 1st grade.

I have spent time in all grades Pre-K through 8th in other capacities such as tutoring, substitute teaching, and summer school teaching. I have a special passion for reading, early literacy and educational technology.

In addition to my professional responsibilities, I am married to my loving husband and we have two wonderful daughters.  Both girls are students at Eberwhite. As a family, we enjoy trying new foods and watching movies together.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions, concerns or suggestions about our school library media program.  You can reach me by email at players@aaps.k12.mi.us.  I will respond to your email within 24 hours.
