August 18th PD Day Information
Programs in the Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology Cluster prepare students for a variety of career areas, including opportunities to become engineers, engineering technologists or technicians. students engage in real-world projects that strengthen their understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). By completing challenging projects related to design, manufacturing process applications and quality improvements, students are being educated for the high-performance workplace using advanced technologies. To remain internationally competitive, employers need employees who can develop and use new technologies that will continuously improve the quality of life for Marylanders.
Canvas - Course curriculum documents are located in the Teacher Resource section of each Canvas course.
Technological Design I & II (S1: Tech Desgin 1, S2: Tech Design 2)
Manufacturing & Construction Technology
Energy, Power & Transportation
In addition to the curriculum documents in Canvas, some courses use additional resources
Honors Engineering Design and Development 2 (capstone)
Project Management Ready Curriculum (housed in GMetrix: LearnKey)
Safety Lesson Plan with rubric for graded assignment
Pathful
AACPS students and teachers have access to Pathful via Classlink. Pathful offers lessons, virtual guest speakers, career databases, employability resources and interest surveys. Learn more about how to use it with your students by exploring the resources below or reaching out to the CTE office.
Watch a brief overview of the Pathful: Employability resources (includes resume builder, cover letter and thank you notes)
Training; Pathful offers both recorded videos and live virtual training sessions on how to use Pathful in your classroom
Interest surveys for career paths based on interests, work values, personality and skills. To access: Log into Pathful > "My Tracker" > "Assessment Progress" > select a survey and click "Start Now"
Select ready-made lessons in the areas of Careers, Work-based Learning, or Employability. Lessons are assigned directly to students within Pathful, most lessons are between 15 and 30 minutes. To access: Log into Pathful > "Career"/"Work-based Learning"/"Employability" > "Lessons" > Preview lesson by clicking "Preview" or assign lesson by clicking "Assign"
One Pagers - AVID Strategy
The “One-Page Report: Poster Activity” combines visual and textual elements. Because information
from the text is presented in manageable parts, this activity becomes accessible to a wide range of students.
It also works well as a change of pace.
Reflections
Use at the conclusion of any classroom project - Project Based Learning Reflection
Adobe Express (if links do not work, click on Adobe Express from Classlink and try again)
Get students started with Guided Activities, examples include:
Accessible through Classlink. All teachers and students have premium accounts.
Learn more about using Adobe Express in AACPS. Teacher's guide to using Guided Activities.
Available Certifications
Certification: AutoDesk Inventor (Taken in Tech Design 2 (when CAD is taught))

The Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Engineering Program prepares students for further education and careers in engineering and engineering technology. students complete foundation-level courses in engineering, including Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, and Digital Electronics. students then select an area of specialization, including Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering and Architecture, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Computer Science Principles, or Environmental Sustainability. In the final course, students complete an industry-mentored capstone project in Engineering Design and Development. students who qualify can earn transcripted credit at PLTW–affiliated colleges and universities nationwide, including the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Completer Information
If a student takes Intro to Eng. Design (IED) or Principles of Eng. (POE) as their basic tech credit for graduation, then it does not count towards the 4 credits needed to complete the Engineering pathway completer. Students would still need to take an additional 4 courses, beyond IED or POE, to be a completer.
For example
Student takes the following courses:
IED (students uses this for their required tech credit for graduation)
POE
DE
Specialty
Capstone
All digital textbooks can be accessed through PLTW.org
Engineering Design Concepts and Practical Programming are both semester based courses that can be used to satisfy the required high school Technical Education requirement for graduation.
Canvas - Course curriculum documents are located in the Teacher Resource section of each Canvas course.
Engineering Design Concepts (1 semester)
Practical Programming (1 semester)
Basic Technical Math
Includes lesson plan, worksheet and poster activity, key and rubric
Computer Science in the News
This is a nice assignment that can be assigned periodically, or used for sub days:
Google Doc | Word | Guiding Questions
Good Example | Decent Example | Poor Example
Cyber Attacks in the News
Similar as above, but more specific to Cybersecurity news.
