Recommended for grade level 10-12.
The Soil Science course looks at the principles of sustainable agriculture, impact of climate on soils, pests and methods of control, agricultural ecosystems, soil structure, water conservation, fertilizers & chemicals, soil sampling & testing, soil pH, soil classification and survey. The course will also include instruction for measurements related to agronomy and soil topics. Students will also be instructed on how to evaluate the use of a given piece of land. Students will work with a variety of materials, both paper and computer based.
