Prerequisite: Freshmen must have a “B” average in 8th grade English. There is no prerequisite for other grade levels.
Course Description: Spanish I introduces the four basic skills of listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. Emphasis is placed on pronunciation, vocabulary acquisition, and basic grammatical concepts so that students can function in simple communicative situations. Cultural concepts are presented as an integral part of the learning process so that students are sensitized to a culture other than their own.
