  • The most common cause of subarachnoid hemorrhage is trauma. However the most common cause of non traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage is a ruptured aneurysm. In the absence of trauma, once subarachnoid hemorrhage is identified, the next step is to evaluate for an anuerysm. At many institutions this is performed with CTA. See below.
