HPI: 16 year old boy hit in the head with a baseball. He denies loss of consciousness.

Questions

1. What is your clinical differential diagnosis?

• Patients with significant head trauma should be evaluated for intracranial hemorrhage and skull fractures.
• Intracranial hemorrhage may occur within the brain parenchyma or within one of the spaces external to the brain parenchyma (epidural, subdural and subarachnoid space).

2. What scan would you order next?
