This self-service charter template library comprises pre-formatted art & text templates, standardized to fit an 8x10 framing mat, and is flexible for all skill levels. Each template is available online as a PDF and can be printed using standard 8.5” x 11” printer paper.
Click on one of the library buttons below to find art and text templates that allow for a mix-and-match approach to scroll creation. Inspired by Garanimals, this program was initially designed for use by Royal Scribal Corps members. Now, everyone can enjoy its benefits. This library is designed to set scribes of all experience levels up for success in creating personalized scrolls that are timely, consistent, and affordable to frame.
For beginning to experienced scribes, all of the scroll elements are planned for you; Simply follow the instructions. When you feel comfortable with the process, use the charters as inspiration, do some more research, add your own flair and embellishments, and have FUN!
Start by selecting and printing a desired Framework.
Select, print, and trace/transfer your chosen artwork and award text onto your scroll paper.
Use your resources to ink, illuminate, and calligraph your scroll.

All instructions presented here assume the reader is a member of the West Kingdom Royal Scribal Corps. This is not meant to exclude other artists from using the materials.
The works housed in this library have been shared under terms that allow their unrestricted use within the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Permission is granted for use by all SCA artists, patrons, cognoscenti, and scribal-curious to copy, trace, modify, combine, and otherwise use any of these elements to create scrolls or any other non-commercial purposes related to the SCA, for free, without requesting individual permission to do so. No attribution is required for the artistic use of these elements within the SCA, so you may use these charters and related documents without the need to credit the original artists (although it is always appreciated).
