My name is Maria Sulentic, and I have been the K-12 School Counselor for the West Bend-Mallard CSD since 2012. I received my B.A. in Psychology and minor in Human Relations from The University of Iowa. I then received my Master of Arts in Education in School Counseling from The University of Northern Iowa. I have additional course work in grief and loss, stress and anxiety, and mental health thru the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). Currently, I am attending Idaho State University for an Interprofessional Certificate in Mindfulness.
There are many duties to my job, but counseling and teaching are the primary ways I work with students. I teach weekly classroom lessons to K-4, quarter long classes to 5-8, and work with grades 9-12 outside the classroom. I also serve as the district's concurrent enrollment coordinator, district testing coordinator, and district homeless liaison. Outside of school, I am a Board Member for the Iowa School Counselor Association (ISCA).
When I'm not working with West Bend-Mallard students, I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling as much as we can!
