My name is Maria Sulentic, and I have been the K-12 School Counselor for the West Bend-Mallard CSD since 2012. I received my B.A. in Psychology and minor in Human Relations from The University of Iowa. I then received my Master of Arts in Education in School Counseling from The University of Northern Iowa and a Certificate in Interprofessional Mindfulness from Idaho State University. I also have additional course work in grief and loss, stress and anxiety, and mental health thru the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).
There are many duties to my job, but counseling and teaching are the primary ways I work with students. I teach weekly classroom lessons to K-4, quarter long classes to 5-8, and work with grades 9-12 outside the classroom. I also serve as the district's concurrent enrollment coordinator, district testing coordinator, and district homeless liaison. Outside of school, I am a Board Member for the Iowa School Counselor Association (ISCA).
When I'm not working with West Bend-Mallard students, I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling as much as we can!
