                            School Year 2022-2023

Six the grade art classes will continue working with the basic elements of art:  color, line, shape, space and texture, work both 2 Dimensionally and 3 Dimensionally, and lessons will follow the New York State Visual Arts Standards.  Art projects will encompass Art History, study of specific artists and their styles, art from other cultures and will make students aware of the close connection art has with math, science and everyday life.

Possible Topics:

     Using different types of media for drawing, painting, printmaking, and 

           Sculpture

     Basic skills in drawing, painting and clay work 

     Using media and techniques to communicate ideas

     Using the visual elements of line, shape, texture, color, space, 

          Symbols, and patterns to create  2 and 3 dimensional artwork

     Color families and color schemes

     Art from different times, cultures and places

     Creating artwork using a variety of subject matter and themes

     1 point perspective

     2 point perspective

     Mosaic making

     Basket weaving

     Egg tempera

     Art vs Craft

     Artists and their place and style in history 

     Art projects to support the 6th grade curriculum

     Functions of art

     Flexibility in problem solving

     Holiday and seasonal art
