Step 1: Write a rhetorical précis for each essay/speech. Email it to the student through your vusdapps.org gmail account. Include me on the email.
Step 2: Peer Review
Reader #1: Highlight at least 4 claims. For each, create a comment box in which you identify what more information is needed for the claim. You may also ask questions that will help the rider address audience concerns.
Reader #2: Identify and highlight the information from outside sources that the writer uses. Highlight the name, title, publisher, and occasion. Additionally, identify and highlight the counter argument. Create a comment box with the words “counter argument.”
Reader #3: Read the essay for clarity. Create comment boxes for sentences and/or ideas that are confusing. Also, at the bottom of the essay, add a 2-3 sentence explanation of a positive aspect to the essay AND a 2-3 sentence suggestion for improvement.
