Review procedures for independent reading:
1. Choose book based on lexile. Choose a book between 50 points above to 100 points below your score.
2. Get the activity sheet for your book from the file cabinet.
If your book does not have an activity sheet, you will complete 5 response journals for your book.
You will discuss this with your teacher.
3. Folders with your book and reading log are kept in the file box.
4. Please remain silent during reading time. Do not talk with your friends. Your body language should show that you are reading.
(Sit up, no heads down, no sleeping)
5. After the reading period is over, you are required to write 2 sentences. Use the sentence starters or summarize the pages you read.
6. When finished with a book, make sure you have finished any activity sheets or response journals.
7. Take the Reading Counts quiz.
If you don't pass the quiz, tell the teacher to print out the quiz. Work on it till you are ready to re-test.
8. You must pass the book quiz before you begin another book.
