Preparing for college should be a 4 year process. Be sure to keep track of your own progress, and check in with your School Counselor to ensure you are both on the same page regarding courses and credits.
MINIMUM RECOMMENDED COLLEGE PREPARATORY PROGRAM:
English 4 credits (emphasis on composition)
Mathematics 4 credits (A mathematics course should be taken during the senior year, even if you've completed the 4 required credits)
Science 3 credits (at least one laboratory course)
Social Studies 3 credits
Foreign Language 2 or 3 credits (some colleges and universities have a foreign language requirement, but not all do)
Fine Art 1 credit (any courses in art or music)
*These requirements are subject to change and will vary from one college or university to another, and from one major to another. Students not following these recommendations will continue to be admitted, but most likely will be given placement testing to determine the appropriate coursework level.
