The students in the class of 2023 and beyond are required to complete three things in order to graduate: Cover the basics, show competency and show readiness.
In addition to satisfying the high school curriculum requirements (covering the basics), students in Ohio must also earn a passing score on Ohio's English Language Arts II (ELA2) and Algebra I state tests (show competency). Students who do not pass will be expected to retake the test at least one time. If the student does not pass after the second time taking the test, there are other options for them to show competency. Students must also show readiness by earning diploma seals. All six End of Course exams (ELA2, Algebra I, Geometry, American History, Biology, Government) are required to take before graduation.
