The Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services provides vocational assistance to Alabama citizens with a broad range of disabilities severe enough to restrict their career choices and/or ability to work.

Transition services to bridge the gap between high school and work or high school and college may be available to older adolescents. These may include vocational assessment, job readiness training, skills development, and/or post-secondary training, are offered in a planned program based on individual needs and interests. Diagnostic and evaluation services are provided at no cost. Financial aid for post-secondary training is available to qualified applicants based on economic need.

If you are at least 16 years of age and are limited in your ability to work due to problems associated with a disability, you may want to know more about ADRS services. Contact Ms. Katie Walter, the Transition Counselor assigned to VHHS, at 205-290-4412, or email her at katie.walter@rehab.alabama.org.
