SOLETO 2024
Summer School & Workshop on
Experimetrics & Behavioral Economics
Experimetrics & Behavioral Economics
2nd Edition
July 21-27, 2024
Soleto (Salento, Apulia Region, South of Italy)
The Summer School will be dedicated to the memory of Gary Charness, who passed away at the end of May 2024.
Shortly after Gary’s passing, the organizers and keynote speakers—several of them being Gary’s personal friends and/or co-authors—unanimously agreed that it was natural to dedicate the event to him. In one of his last emails, Gary expressed his desire to come to Soleto for the Summer School on July 21-27 if he recovered.
This is SOLETO 2024. Imagine diving into experimental and behavioral economics, where not just economic theory but psychology, neuroscience, statistics, and computer science come together to unlock the mysteries of human behavior. This isn't just about economics; it's about blending disciplines to understand how we make decisions.
Graduate students and researchers from all fields of study interested in using experimental or behavioral approaches to understand human behavior and economic outcomes better are welcome to attend. This is your opportunity to enter the quaint old heart of Soleto, where you will join a lively community of 70 students in a rich interchange of ideas with eminent experts.
Mark your calendars for July 21st to 27th for an unforgettable experience of learning and discussion.
And it doesn't end there. Ph.D. students and postdocs will have a unique platform to showcase their research on the 26th and 27th of July, culminating in a final social party that promises to be both rewarding and memorable.
The summer school is meant to:
Master Students: prepare to speed up your academic journey with our summer program, which introduces Master's students to experimental, behavioral, and experimetrics approaches. You'll work with cutting-edge statistical software and learn about the most critical challenges in experimental and behavioral economics. Whether it's finance, development, game theory, or the environment, we have you covered with insights into how behavioral economics is used in these fast-growing topics.
Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral Students: this is where you will deepen your behavioral and experimental analysis knowledge. Use interdisciplinary methods to tackle the most pressing challenges in behavioral economics. If you've already been exploring this area in your research, our final workshop is your opportunity to shine and receive valuable feedback.
Dive deep into one-to-one mentoring sessions with top minds in the field, including keynote speakers and a diverse group of junior and senior researchers.
It's a unique opportunity to fine-tune your ideas, inspire collaborations, and obtain insights explicitly personalized to you.
Last but not least, participants in the summer school will be allowed to submit a research article to one of three journals' special issues.
Join us in navigating the frontier of experimental and behavioral economics, armed with knowledge and networking.
