Jaclyn Rainey is the Associate Principal horn with the Minnesota Orchestra. Before joining the orchestra in 2022, Jaclyn was the Principal horn of the Atlanta Symphony, Associate Principal horn with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Third horn with the Atlanta Symphony, Acting Principal horn with the Naples Philharmonic, and Associate Principal horn with the Louisiana Philharmonic.
Rainey, a Louisville, KY native, has also performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Kansas City Symphony, Louisville Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, San Antonio Symphony, Sarasota Orchestra, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. She has spent summers performing at the Tanglewood Music Center, Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, Chautauqua Institution, Festival Mozaic, Lakes Area Music Festival, and Mainly Mozart. Also during the summer months, Ms. Rainey has served on the faculty of the Aspen Music Festival, Brevard Music Center, Interlochen Arts Camp, and the New England Conservatory's Summer Orchestra Institute.
Ms. Rainey has also performed as guest principal horn with the Chicago Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, and Baltimore Symphony. She has toured with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony, and Los Angeles Philharmonic. She has also competed in solo competitions and was a winner in the National MTNA Senior Brass Competition.
When not performing, Ms. Rainey is on the University of Minnesota School of Music faculty. She has previously served on the Emory University and Georgia State University faculty and maintains a private teaching studio. Ms. Rainey received her undergraduate degree in horn performance from the Eastman School of Music, followed by a Master's degree at the New England Conservatory of Music, and has studied with W. Peter Kurau, Richard Sebring, and James Sommerville.
