FSOS Departmental Spaces and Classroom Assignments

General Purpose Classrooms are assigned each term by the Office of Classroom Management (ocmsched@umn.edu). Departmental Classrooms are scheduled by the FSOS Course Scheduler. FSOS has two departmentally-owned classrooms:

• McNeal Hall - 278

• McNeal Hall - 375

Generally, classroom assignments roll from term-to-term. However, if you would like to request a change, please contact the Course Scheduler, Sophia Shepeck, at shepe049@umn.edu.

Room Reservation Instructions

Contact Anna to reserve department rooms for one-off meetings or recurring research meetings. She will find rooms (if needed), schedule them, and work with you on any scheduling conflicts. 

If you need a recurring room that is related to one of your courses, please connect with Sophia (shepe049@umn.edu).

Department rooms available:

• McNeal Hall 48G - data collection room

• McNeal Hall 278 - conference room

• McNeal Hall 299A - department breakroom

• McNeal Hall 375 - classroom

• McNeal Hall 377 - classroom

• McNeal Hall 398 - conference room

McNeal 274, also known as the Fireplace Room, can also be reserved. However, keep in mind that it belongs to the Department of Design and its use will be contingent upon their approval. Since it is one of their classrooms, it is not always available and its use should be limited to special one-off occasions only. FSOS department rooms should be considered first before requesting 274.  The room must be put back how it was found and all tables must be wiped down if any food is eaten in there. We have a good relationship with Design and any misuse of 274 risks us no longer being able to use it. Please still contact Anna with any reservation requests.

  • Doors lock from the inside only. Rooms are unscheduled, meaning they are available on a first-come/first-served basis
