Course scheduling is the process of setting up courses in the system and ensuring that all class information is accurate. This includes class dates/times, location/modality, instructors/TAs, enrollment capacity, registration restrictions, etc.
Several months before a new term starts, the course scheduler will reach out to gather textbook orders. They will ask you for book details and submit the order to the Bookstore. The process is currently carried out through a Google Form and instructors should receive confirmation after the form is submitted. Please reply to the email sent by your department scheduler, even if it is to say that you do not require textbooks or if you have sent book details in the past. There is a deadline to submit textbook orders, and although the Bookstore can fulfill orders after this date, the process can be slower and can cause problems if done too close to the start of term.
If you require a desk copy for your textbook(s), please reach out to Sophia Shepeck with book details. Copies will be placed in your mailbox.
Some classes are set up to require instructor consent so that any student wishing to register needs a permission number (PN) (i.e. directed studies), but in other cases, permission numbers are given out to students on a case-by-case basis to admit them to a class they would otherwise be unable to register for (i.e. a student has not completed prerequisites or the course is full, but the instructor agrees to override this).

After the deadline to register for classes without instructor approval, all students will need instructor consent and a PN to join the class. If you receive a request to join after this date and you approve, please forward the email with your approval (with the student copied) to the appropriate contact so the student can receive the number. After the deadline to register without college approval, PNs can no longer be used (even if you wish to allow a student in). The student will need to fill out an Academic Policy Petition and gain approval from the college. Please send them the form if you receive a request to join after the deadline.
