NARRATOR: Welcome to my NCBI part 2. In this video I'll show you how to create collections of references from PubMed.
In addition to saving searches you can save groups of references in collections. I can select references that I want to save from my search or I can save all of them which is what I'm going to do. Going to click on the center to link and choose collections then I'll click add to collections. I can add the items to an existing collection by choosing the append option or i can create a new collection. When you create a collection be sure to name it so that you can remember it easily. On the search results page there's a notice that my collection has been saved with the link that I can use to edit the collection. On the edit screen I can remove items for my collection. I can also sort the collection by date; by author; by title. I can edit the settings or view the collection in PubMed. Collection settings let you keep your collection private which is the default or make it public. If i make this collection public I'm given a URL that I can share or a link that I can embed in a blog or webpage then click save. Use the my save data button on the left. To manage your collections and searches you can merge collections, edit or change settings here. Just click on the managed link.
