Research Interests: Tuberculosis and antibiotic treatments, pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modeling
Current Projects: I combine optimization algorithms and a multi-scale, agent-based model of granuloma formation to predict better antibiotic regimens to treat tuberculosis. The agent-based model (called GranSim) simulates the interactions between immune cells and bacteria on a spatial grid representing lung tissue and leads to the emergent behavior of a granuloma forming. With this simulated granuloma, we can predict the efficacy of and compare different antibiotic regimens by including pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic models.
