1. Go to https://ccl.northwestern.edu/netlogo/
2. Click on the “Download NetLogo” button on the left.
3. On the next page, fill out the short form. It asks for your name, organization, email address, and a space for comments.
4. Click the “Download” button on the bottom of the screen.
5. Choose the link that corresponds to your system and preferred download speed. This could take a few minutes.
6. Access your downloads and open the NetLogo file. It is called NetLogo-6.0.1-64.msi.
a. In many browsers, you can see a list of your downloads by clicking on an icon at the top right corner of the screen.
b. You can also access your download folder by going through your computer’s menus.
When you choose to run NetLogo, an installation will appear. Follow the steps in the wizard to customize your experience, or if you just click ‘Next’ your file will save in a default location (C:\Program Files (x86)\NetLogo 6.0.1\)
8. When you reach the ‘Install’ button, choose it.
9. You may get a pop-up window from your device asking for permission for the NetLogo program to make changes to your computer. You may need to select either “Yes” or “Allow”, depending on your operating system.
When the wizard tells you the installation is complete, click “Finish.”
To open NetLogo from the default location:
Windows OS
1. You can find the program by going through the explorer to ‘This PC’ and selecting the C drive. (In later versions of Windows, you will also see the icon in the menu under ‘Recently Added’ for a short time.)
2. Inside the C drive, choose ‘Program Files.’ It may display as ‘Program Files (x86).’
3. Scroll down until you find the folder marked ‘Netlogo 6.0.1.’
4. You can run the program from this file by choosing the Netlogo application (see below). Or, you may wish to copy and paste the folder into a more convenient location.
In a Mac, using default settings:
1. Select “Applications” folder
2. Select “Netlogo” folder
3. Select the “Netlogo” logo (see above)
