Research interests: Constructing, analyzing and applying dynamical systems models to study the phenomena that involve contagion and transmission, such as infections, crime, and smoking behavior. Computing the threshold for epidemic takeoff in such models.
Current Projects:
1) Systems approach to the spread of crime,
2) Understanding the role of Ro in epidemiological models,
3) The life history of Great Lakes salmon,
4) The relative importance of peer pressure in smoking initiation,
5) Modeling the spread of MRSA in health care facilities,
6) Modeling learning and adaptation in human-natural resource interactions.
