Engineering Across Cultures: Kumasi, Ghana

The summer after my freshman year I participated in a summer abroad program hosted by the University of Michigan. This exciting summer program in Kumasi, Ghana brings together students from the U-M College of Engineering and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to learn about Ghanaian culture and to compare how engineering needs assessment, design and entrepreneurship are approached in Ghana and the United States. I collaborated with KNUST students to determine and assess an engineering design opportunity in the community and develop a strategic plan to implement a sustainable solution based on the communities culture.
