ME 250 is a design and manufacturing course taken by all mechanical engineering sophomores at the University of Michigan. My team created a machine to participate in the "M-Ball" competition. Our design won the "Best Manufactured Robot" award.
My contributions to the team included the following:
- Determination of drive train and lift mechanism gear ratios, mechanism geometry, and failure criteria of rotating/ load bearing parts
- Creation of mechanism simulations to optimize geometry and torque required by motors
- Machining parts using the lathe and mill
- Production of engineering drawings
Check out our video and final report for the full details of the project.
