Design and Manufacturing II: 4 Bar Laser Reflector

Check out our video and final report for the full details of the project.

ME 350 is a design and manufacturing course taken by all mechanical engineering juniors at the University of Michigan. Our project consisted of designing a four bar linkage and controller that would reflect lasers from different positions onto a stationary target. The goal was to reflect the lasers from randomly distributed lanes onto the target for as long as possible within two minutes. Our linkage was able to hit the target for 94% of the time, the second best in the entire course.

My contributions to the team included the following:

- Performance of engineering analysis (sections 10-16 on report)

- Design/optimization of team's Arduino controller

- Design of calibration code

- Machining parts using the lathe and mill
