Math: This week we will introduce estimation before measuring. Before we measure, we think what type of unit we will need to use. For example, when measuring a pencil we may use centimeters, but if we want to measure a notebook, we should use inches. So first we estimate. For Second Graders, the width of their pinky finger is about a centimeter. They bend their index finger and measure the first to second knuckle, then that is about an inch. This way we can guess about how many inches or centimeters an object might measure. Please practice at home.
