Weekly Learning Targets
Science:
We are hoping that some of our butterflies might emerge from their chrysalis over the weekend. Maybe we can see some of them emerging next week!
This week we will begin learning about the life cycle of a frog. This is a fun one to learn. We will read a few books and do some fun activities.
Social Studies:
This week we will watch the Week In Rap. This is a fun way to keep up with current events.
Math: This week we will continue on reviewing the math standards we have covered this year. We will also view arrays. We will practice writing equations to match an array. We will review the difference between a column and a row.
We will also be taking the end of the year county math assessment.
Reader's Workshop:
MCLASS Assessments are over! I am SO proud of everyone this year. I will be meeting with every student this week to review their goal that we set in the middle of the year.
We started Reader's Theater this week! There will be 3 performances at our end of the year celebration. Each student was assigned a role in a performance. We will also continue reading poetry.
Writer's Workshop:
Beginning this week and for the rest of the school year we will be writing our very own poems. We will learn about alliteration, similes, and how to writing in stanzas. This is a fun way to end the year!
Homework Expectations

The notebook as fiction and non-fiction questions glued on the inside of the front cover. There is also a self-assessment rubric on the first page of the notebook. Each student is required to answer a question on Monday and Wednesday night.

2.Choose a question from the list. Write the title, of the book, date, and question on the first blank page.
3.Restate the question and use supporting details to answer the question. Include the page number if one is provided.
There are several samples in your child's notebook.
Math: Please have your child work on the IXL program for 20 minutes on Tuesday and Thursday nights. This is an excellent program that is very beneficial to students. It is also a great additional tool to help teachers track growth.
